Collapse ▲Get excited for this year’s 4-H summer programming! We are offering a variety of day camps covering topics such as agriculture and wildlife, GIS and history, tie-dye and textiles, emergency preparedness, Cloverbud activities, and circuits and soils.
Please note that each Summer Fun participant must have an active 4-H Online account. If you already have an account, simply re-enroll the participant for the 2023-2024 year. You can sign up for an account or re-enroll at 4-H Online.
Agriculture & Wildlife Camp (June 20-23)
Participants will explore local farms to see agriculture in action, complete the Quality Care of Animals certification course, visit the Museum of Life + Science in Durham, NC, and more! The cost is $50 and is open to ten rising 6th-9th grade students.
Treasure Map Through Town (June 27-29)
4-H is pairing with Person County GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and the Person County Museum of History to offer this day camp in which youth will learn basic orienteering and how to read a map all while connecting this county’s geography and infrastructure with its history. The cost is $45 and is open to ten rising 6th-9th grade students.
Tie-Dye & Textiles (July 6-7)
Join 4-H for a tie-dye and textiles camp! This camp will begin with traditional tie-dyeing and transition into Shibori dyeing. Participants will learn about textiles and different dyeing techniques. This class is open to ten rising 3rd-8th grade students and the cost is $15.
Emergency Preparedness Camp – POSTPONED UNTIL SUMMER 2024
This exciting camp is sponsored and taught by Person County Emergency Services. Over the course of five days, teens will learn vital emergency preparedness skills and gain insight into careers in EMS, firefighting, law enforcement, 911, and emergency management. This camp is open to twenty rising 8th-12th grade students and the cost is $100.
Cloverbud Days (August 1-2)
This fun camp is all about the Cloverbuds! Youth will participate in a variety of activities which include science experiments, crafts, games, and much more! This camp is $10 and is open to ten Cloverbuds (ages 5-7 as of January 1st).
Circuits & Soils (August 9-10)
Youth will wire a plant soil monitor kit for testing soil moisture levels. On the first day, participants will solder their kit. On the second day, they will test their devices and learn troubleshooting as well as the significance of soil moisture levels to plant growth. Participants must be at least 13 years of age by the first day of camp and the cost is $15.
