Description:

Ornamental trees and shrubs serve numerous essential functions and provide the structural living components in a healthy well-landscaped yard.

Participants will learn how to properly prune, select, install, and care for ornamental trees and shrubs. The workshop will include two forty-minute presentations with a ten-minute break. Join us on Saturday, April 24,2021 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. for this free, in-person workshop. Participants are required to register online at ornamentaltreeandshrubworkshop.eventbrite.com

Third generation nurseryman, landscape designer and installer, owner of Prince George Nursery, and plant guru, Barney Peter will present the first half of the workshop. He will cover proper selection, installation, maintenance, and fertilization, of ornamental trees and shrubs. Barney has over 35 years of experience in the industry and is happy to share what he has learned along the way, as well as tips and tricks of the trade that have been passed down for generations.

The second half of the workshop will be presented by Currituck County Extension Agriculture Technician, Chris Blaha. Chris will cover basic pruning, including proper techniques, pruning tools and how they are used, appropriate timing, and more! We will be available after class for any questions that you may have.
