Description: EMG Volunteer Training goes beyond the basics of beginning horticulture. Students learn about all the aspects of growing plants in the garden and throughout the landscape. Training consist of more than 50 hours of horticultural training from soils & fertilizers, to insects & disease management, planting, pruning and everything in between. Sessions will feature specialists in various fields of experience, Extension Agents from surrounding counties and Dare County Extension Master Gardeners. Learning sessions include lectures, hands-on activities, and field trips.The six week training runs from September 13, 2021 through October 21, 2021. For more information on Becoming an Extension Master Gardener click here:https://dare.ces.ncsu.edu/site-dare-emgprogram/Becoming a Master Gardener is a two-part process, first training and then a volunteer internship. Training is held every other year (2021, 2023, 2025) and begins in the Spring.
