Gardening A-Z Classes
Overview

 The Town of Clayton Parks and Recreation department in partnership with Johnston County Agricultural Extension offers Gardening A-Z Classes to residents inside and outside Clayton. The Clayton Community Center at 715 Amelia Church Rd provides administrative services, materials, and classroom space while the Extension office provides the curriculum and instructors. Hands-on gardening activities take place in the Clayton Community Garden which is located behind the community center. Gardening classes are designed to train new gardeners as well as teach experienced gardeners proven techniques for local growing conditions and how to overcome gardening issues they may be facing.

 Classes are taught on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. from March
through September except for holiday weekends. There is no charge for certified EMGV’s to participate in these classes and assisting with the Gardening A-Z classes counts toward the volunteer hours required for EMGV certification.

ATTENTION:

The A-Z Gardening class has been postponed till 2025 due to construction at the Clayton Community Center.
