4-H Presentations
4-H Presentations are a huge part of North Carolina 4-H. It is one of the best ways to help youth learn public speaking skills. It focuses on youth teaching others what they know about a topic that they are passionate about!
Benefits of 4-H Presentations:
-Increased knowledge of public speaking skills
-Increased self confidence
-Increase of knowledge in a given area
-Helps with communication skills, presentation skills, college/post secondary goals, career and job skills
What is a 4-H Presentation?
A presentation is a 5-12 minute long demonstration (showing how to do something) or illustrated (talking about a topic of interest using props) talk. There are over 30 categories that you may choose to compete in. 4-H Presentations are open to registered 4-H members ages 8-18. Youth aged 5-7 (as of January 1, 2024) are allowed to participate and give a presentation, but will not be part of the competition).

2024 Competition Details
All participants must be registered in 4-H Online and have completed a mock presentation (see below) no later than Friday May 17. Category must also be determined. Only two youth per age group (8-10, 11-13, 14-18) and category can participate at the district competition.
If you are the third person in an age group and category we will help you find another category so you can participate.

Mock Presentations
Before presenting at County Presentation Day participants must set up a time to come in and give a mock presentation. The last day to set up a time to do a mock presentation is May 16. Please fill out this Form to register and sign up for a mock presentation.

Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension – Haywood County Center; 589 Raccoon Road., Waynesville
Other Details: AV Equipment (Laptop, projector) will be provided. Youth must be registered in 4-H Online for the year. All participants must schedule a mock presentation prior to this date with Leah before County Presentation Day.
District Activity Day (Presentation Competition)
Date: June 14, 2024
Time: All Day
Location: Western Carolina University; Cullowhee, NC (transportation will be on your own)
Other Details: Gold winners (ages 8-10) and Gold and Silver Winners (ages 11-13, 14-18) are eligible to compete in the state competition
State 4-H Presentations Competition
Date: July 23, 2024
Time: All Day
Location: North Carolina State University; Raleigh, NC (transportation will be on your own)
