Collapse ▲October is the perfect month to celebrate the joys of eating together with family and friends. Eat Better, Eat Together is an initiative that encourages people to cook and share healthy meals with their loved ones. This month-long celebration is all about promoting healthy eating habits, reducing food waste, and fostering stronger connections with the people we care about.
Eating together has many benefits both for our physical and mental health. Sharing a meal with loved ones can help reduce stress, improve our mood, and strengthen our relationships. It also provides an opportunity to try new foods and experiment with healthy recipes. By cooking and eating together, we can inspire each other to make healthier choices and create a supportive environment that promotes overall wellness.
To make the most of Eat Better Eat Together month here are some tips:
- Plan a potluck dinner with friends
- Host or attend a healthy cooking class such as our Hispanic Heritage Celebration at N.C. Cooperative Extension of Dare County
- Involve kids in family meals
- Make a breakfast date on the weekend with the family
- Share a meal with coworkers
- Invite your neighbors over for a meal
- Turn off all phones and electronics when sharing a meal together
- Talk together
- Make a commitment to eat together as a family each week
Remember, the focus is on healthy eating habits and building stronger connections with the people we care about. So, let’s celebrate this month by sharing delicious, nutritious meals with our loved ones and creating lasting memories together.
