— Written By

On January 8, 2020, N.C. Cooperative Extension of Currituck County will host a workshop that focuses on bringing turf managers the latest pest information, new concepts for pest management, and the adoption and use of new pesticide strategies. Participants will learn how to identify and diagnose traditional golf course pest problems as well as new and emerging pest concerns, and concepts for the development and use of integrated pest management strategies. The event will be held at The Currituck Club, located at 620 Currituck Clubhouse Dr., Corolla from 10 a.m. to noon with lunch following.

Please register at or by phone at (252) 232-2261 to help us get an accurate meal count. Attendees will receive two hours of N, L, D, & X pesticide credits.

Guest speaker Matt Martin from NC State University will present Managing Difficult Golf Course Pests in the Southern & Transition Climatic Region. His presentation will address specific problems associated with disease, insect, and weed management on golf courses in the Southeastern US. Cost-effective strategies to manage common golf course pests change rapidly. As putting green surfaces or fairway grasses are converted and cultural management strategies are employed, new pest problems emerge, and new products are registered.
