Purple Fountain Grass

Ornamental grasses are tough, low-maintenance, and attractive solutions for difficult spots in coastal gardens. Cultivars range in size from a few inches to over 8’ tall and each has unique qualities, striking colors, textures, and flowers. They may be substituted in place of smaller shrubs, in perennial borders, and used in container plantings. In mass, they can provide erosion control along the dunes and hillsides.

Ornamental grasses also give interest to the garden in ways that few other plants can. They sway easily in the wind, adding the appeal of movements and rustling sounds to the landscape. Their rapid growth and changing appearance throughout the year add seasonal interest.
