Get ready to put your decorating skills to the test! Join in the fun for our 1st Annual N.C. Cooperative Extension, Dare County Center Gingerbread Decorating contest! This event is the perfect opportunity to showcase your creativity and have fun with family, friends, and the community.
The rules are simple: We have two great categories to stretch your creative skills. Choose to create an OBX-inspired gingerbread house or enter the traditional category. The judges will select the winning entry based on originality, creativity, and overall appearance. Age categories are youth: 17 and under and adults: 18 and up.
But the real fun is in the process of decorating the gingerbread house. From colorful candies to intricate icing designs, the possibilities are endless. You can let your imagination run wild and create a whimsical wonderland, a cozy cottage, a beach scene, a lighthouse, or a festive holiday home.
And the best part? You get to take your gingerbread house home with you and enjoy it throughout the holiday season. Plus, the bragging rights are a bonus. Did we mention there are cash prizes?
Winners will be announced at the Manteo Christmas Tree Lighting event on Friday, December 1, and on display at the Magnolia Pavilion in Downtown Manteo that evening.
